Where did this mosque in Urumqi go?

Copied from a 1988 Lonely Planet guide to China.  This mosque was in Urumqi, in the land of the Uyghurs.  (Currently controlled and taken over by P.R. of China).

I wonder what happened to this mosque?  Look at the lovely detail and paintings.  Was it destroyed?  If so, why?
